This will be generational change. Oil and Gas changed a culture and created a new one. The chemical industry changed the River Parishes. Solar is having an impact on the Prairie farm lands. All have had an impact financially but at a price. It will be interesting to see what will be twenty years from now.
What we don't know are the relational benefits UL might receive from this. It is obviously not about the sale price.

According to UL officials, the $1.00 lease is a mechanism to provide SpaceX access to the property to start the renovations they need. The sale price is being negotiated and should take place in 2027. The sale price will be for the current condition of the property and buildings and excludes SpaceX improvements. At least that is my understanding. I guess we will see how much money UL realizes from the actual sale sometime in 2027.

The university gets rid of a money pit and it gets a future infusion of cash. The property doesn't take care if itself. Win win in my book.

Plaintiffs say the Vermilion Police Jury and Industrial Development Board broke open meetings rules on the SpaceX deal.
