Kaplan's proposed RV-park rules would require rezoning and paved roads

A published city proposal would restrict RV living outside approved parks and require new parks to clear zoning and infrastructure reviews.

From a Facebook post. Havent verified

For lease: one Louisiana school. Rent to UL: $1 a year. Cash rent from SpaceX: $0. 🏫🚀

Tomorrow the UL System Board is set to consider a deal for the old Pecan Island High School.

              Here’s how it works:
➡️ UL Lafayette leases the school to a UL-affiliated nonprofit for $1 a year for 40 years.
➡️ That nonprofit subleases it to SpaceX for 40 years.
➡️ SpaceX’s rent? No cash rent. Instead, it “pays” with improvements to the property.

And the list of those improvements? It’s Exhibit A, and in the version posted for the board, Exhibit A is completely blank. 📄

So as posted, SpaceX gets a school on 5 acres in Pecan Island for 40 years, and the public gets a blank page. Maybe that’s a typo.. Right?

Some other fun facts from the documents posted on the board’s agenda:
🔒 UL’s own staff can’t enter the property without SpaceX’s permission and an escort.
🤐 UL can’t make a public announcement about the deal without SpaceX’s consent, unless the law requires it.
🏷️ For 40 years, UL can’t offer the property to anyone except SpaceX. If SpaceX ever buys it, the price gets appraised as if SpaceX’s improvements never happened.
🦆 The building’s official name is the “Wildlife & Coastal Preservation Center.” The lease says that name is “honorific” and doesn’t limit approved uses like vehicle fueling, fabrication, and testing.

Want to know if Exhibit A is a typo? Ask them.

Space X is essentially a top secret company since it works with NASA and rocket technologies. It will not release any information it’s not legally required to do so.

This is why early on I said to offer the Pecan Island school verbally to get out in front of the project and get some milage out of the deal.

If the people complaining about "UL can't even be on the property without an escort" would see how the real world works in most facilities, they would blow a gasket. I've had to go through training about what to do if there's a terrorist event at facilities. These people don't realize how this is just standard operating procedure in this type of work.

                      True Dat.

Very very strict and landlords sign a waiver for all general on premises rights.

I'm PRO-SPACEX. The positives far outweigh any negatives as far as I am concerned. So tired of the folks who want to hold Louisiana back. So tired of the anti-business climate in Louisiana.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is part of a deal to lease property in Pecan Island to Space X. The University of Louisiana System's Board of Supervisors approved the deal Thursday at their monthly meeting in Baton Rouge.

Missing the big picture? Don't. This article may be a bit arcane for the casual reader, but for investors it presents an interesting proposition. You WANT Louisiana to partner with SpaceX for the simple reason that it will generate wealth for citizens for generations by transforming our state's economy. You will profit. Our state will grow. Our university will grow. And there's not a damn thing holding us back but old ways of thinking.

                              Great read.

He didn't even mention SpaceX access to natural gas in Louisiana.

Is this the same guy that founded MarketWise?

Just like National Guard deal. We get $1.00.
This will be generational change. Oil and Gas changed a culture and created a new one. The chemical industry changed the River Parishes. Solar is having an impact on the Prairie farm lands. All have had an impact financially but at a price. It will be interesting to see what will be twenty years from now.
