This is the way I see it. This program is at a crossroads. I think their biggest problem is two things. The staff thinks that kids want to come to UL just because it's UL and the history. Well, college sports are completely different now, and kids won't just come here because it's UL. The staff is arrogant when it comes to that. Secondly, and probably the most important, is that they are fishing in the wrong place for talent. It's clear to see Alyson wants to create chaos on the bases with steals and at the plate with small ball bunting. That's her style, and it doesn't look like she will change. The team lost three players who fit that style (Watts, Ardion, Ferguson) and hasn't replaced any of those types of kids yet. The team stole 50 bases last season, and Liscano had a team high of 15 as a full-time starter. If that is the brand they want to play, then why hasn't the team reached out to a player that fit that mold? A local player played last season who is now in the portal. She started as a true freshman and then, in game 3 of the season, got hit with a pitch that broke her hand. She had to spend some time recovering. Once she returned after about a 1/3 way through the season, the player who took her place was playing well, so she was now the new pinch runner. She had 16 steals for the season as a pinch runner only. Once she ran, one time her time was up. In a full season as a starter, I'm sure she would have had 40-50 steals. Why are the Cajuns not going after players like that if that is their style of play? This is a kid who is a grinder and plays for the name on the front of the jersey. I just see lazy recruiting. No player, regardless of conference, who can help this team should be looked down on.

You have to like what they are selling first.

So the portal is now closed. We know who is available and who isn’t. Still need at least 2 pitchers and whoever else we can get. It’s starting to look like there will be no splash transfers which we needed for the program…..

Most of the good players are off the board. Still have some decent players who could help this team. Urgency is needed!

Curious what FAU was offering compared to us.

KG wasn't a two-way player at South Carolina, but it looks like the Cajuns will see what she can do in the fall with the bat.

I love Lafayette, but as a college kid I’d pick Boca Raton 100/100 times.
