I believe this new version looks better from afar; it shows the “U” and “L” cleanly to me. It’s clearer and more balanced overall. Also gives it character.

Dont have access to a computer, but what about this for a red version

I agree, the chinstrap affected it. The other side of the helmet was clean and looks great. I'm in favor of that look.

The NCAA regional was great, did not get ULL'ed all weekend long, especially at a SEC site.

That said, MH needs to grow a set come freshmen orientation time and quit producing class after class that embraces ULL first.

All these logo designs are nice, but doesn't mean squat to confused freshmen.

I don’t think anything needs to be forced. If we consistently use UL and Louisiana, people will naturally start calling us that over time just by seeing it everywhere.

Orientation doesn’t have to turn into a debate. Just present the identity confidently and let repetition do the work. The more students see it, the more it sticks.

It may have taken 26 years to get here, but if we want to move to the next level, we do need to start shifting from relying on “Ragin’ Cajuns” for everything and move toward a stronger UL/Louisiana identity.

That’s just my perspective. The more it’s shown, the more it becomes the norm. And this logo works academically just as well as athletically.

i mean i live in a area that we get UL-Lafayette to dearh, i get it i will not sit here and tell them what to call us. In there mind thats who we are. So you change it through branding.

University is partly to blame for this, we cant be scared of our shadow.

More than that, the legally approved (yet overturned) University of Louisiana name change of 1984 began, long before 1984.

The problem is that athletics uses UL and LOUISIANA while academics (including the Alumni Association) uses UL Lafayette and sometimes ULL. Until that changes, the mixed messages continue. There are so many universities that use their athletic name for ALL references and not their legal name. Examples are:
Fresno State - Cal State Fresno; Texas - UT Austin; North Carolina - UNC Chapel Hill; Nevada - UN Reno; Tennessee - UT, Knoxville; Minnesota - UM Twin Cities; Georgia Tech - Georgia Institute of Technology; etc., etc.
Our new President needs to take a bold step and start referencing us as LOUISIANA academically and see what happens. Since we are using UL and LOUISIANA athletically and getting away with it, who is to say we won't academically as well. Just maybe after all these years and with a UL alum as governor, if this comes to a head politically, we can move to drop the Lafayette. Unless and until we hear something otherwise, continue with UL and LOUISIANA academically and athletically.

Regarding a new logo, for the record, my preferences are for both script Louisiana and the UL hat logo and script Ragin Cajuns to replace the old, outdated block Click image for larger version

It was painted over, not removed.

I agree we need to stick with this type of symbol athletically as well as academically; I get why you would used UL-Lafayette academically, but I think a symbol like this reinforces the UL, Louisiana identity both athletically and academically !!! Either one of these is fine with me.

Could you imagine!!! Man the University is totally missing out on these! If they used anyone of these as Alternates to me would be game changer! The reds to me are incredible
