Deggs is doing something special.....clear message that Freshmen get fair chance to play and contribute year 1.

Most of 1-9 lineup returning is really great news. Don't know about any Freshman pitching coming in.....but we clearly needed a MUCH deeper bullpen to compete past 3 games in regionals. Optimistic Deggs can plug these holes for 27

One thing we have to remember is that we were missing an arm all season in the pen in Bryce Wilson, Wilson only pitched 4.1 innings with a 7.71 ERA, but he had a 0.00 Era after his first game against Missouri State, including short outings vs Rice, K-State, LSU, DBU and Texas State. He would have been called on to be a big piece of the pen had he stayed healthy. I know it is a small sample size, but you take away that one inning vs Missouri State and he was facing some really good teams and held his own.

Let me know if I am correct, these names have committed to next year:

Rodriguez, Brown, Pruitt, Lewis, Pearson and Collins as well as bringing in 1B Pisano.

That gives us our Catcher, Shortstop, CF, LF, one Weekend starter and an arm out of the pen as well as a 1B transfer from an Arizona JUCO.

My guess is that Juniors like Markle, Roman, Lasalle are waiting to see where they are drafted... I doubt they (regular starters) would portal out with just a year of eligibility left. Didn't work out too well for Stelly. Yuhasz got PT with South Carolina but didn't do all that great.

I think guys have a pretty good idea if/when they’re getting drafted nowadays. Not like it was 5 or 10 years ago when there was 40 or 50 rounds. It’s a completely different environment in the 20 round era in my opinion
