Who’s the Albright kid that just announced?

edit… Marshall pitcher transferring in. Wanted to work with Coach Sandy.

There’s another Marshall kid in the portal (Griffin Miller) that was All-SBC in 2025. Went 7-4 with a 3.46 ERA over 83.1 innings that season under Coach Sandy. He missed this past season with a “clean out” surgery, but will be healthy by the fall.

It would be nice to add him as well.

Love the news. Almost everyone of our main guys we needed back are coming back. That’s awesome. Now go fill those holes with studs. Build the pen and the bench and we might be walking through the games of Omaha.

Blaine Albright. He had 14 appearances with 4 starts. Big kid 6’3 225.

pitched well under sandy as a freshman. Really struggled this year without sandy.

If Brasch comes back we very well may be walking through the gates of Omaha. And the right way; without buying up other teams players…..

Lape began his college career at LSU before transferring to BPCC this fall. Lape’s fastball consistently sat in the upper 90s this fall and is drawing attention from MLB teams.

“We all knew Trent had elite arm talent, but his dedication to his craft has been impressive,” BPCC Head Coach Bobby Gilliam said . “He’s been up to 98 this fall and worked hard to develop complementary stuff to go along with the fastball. Trent had other options from SEC schools, but ULL came in with an offer that was really special.

He did not have a great season at BPCC, but his stuff sounds electric, it will be a matter of harnessing that stuff. He was 1-3 with 1 save and a 6.18 ERA at BPCC, but he averaged 9.43 K's per 9 innings in 27.2 innings of work. He struck out 29 and walked 15. Again, the stuff is not the question, it is harnessing it and limiting the base on balls, which he had 15 in 27 innings.

Similar story when he was at Chipola JC before BPCC, he went 2-1 in 35.1 innings with a 5.86 ERA, but averaged 8.15 K's per 9 innings, but walked 22 in that span. It appears walks gets him in trouble, if he can limit the free bases, then I think we got a really good one.

Both from Sam Houston (my HS) and I pulled for both of them. Griffin sure had his chances. I expect they may wind up at McNeese.

Hebert was the starter when season started. Opportunity to be a primary contributor this season was his to keep or lose.

If you look at who is staying vs portal bound.......almost all (2 exceptions being Mandino and Galt) fall on who had opportunities and fluttered (now in portal) vs those who made positive contributions to the year end run.
Deggs lineup card was pretty easy to predict as the season progressed into final third of season.

With the current players entering the transfer portal, only Mark Collins and Parker Smith remain from the 2024 freshmen signing class.

And all of the JUCO signees and transfers in that class were gone after one season as well.

That could possibly be the worst recruiting class in the last 30-40 years.

And last year’s could turn out to be one of the best in program history.

What a difference a year makes

Another Marshall pitcher in the boat. Charlie Krebs will have 1 year of eligibility left, career 4.41 ERA. Another guy who had great numbers under Sandy and struggled after he left. I see a pattern at Marshall this year.
