Can we win in 2027?

It depends. For our results to be better than the last two years at least 4 things must happen:

1. Our team ERA must improve to no worse than 3.0, which means at least 2 of our inexperienced pitchers must perform significantly better than the best we have had since Sam Landry left.

2. We must have more offensive production from the 1B/DP positions.

3. Either Harrington or Spinogatti must emerge as an effective catcher who can hit.

4. We must cut down significantly on unearned runs allowed.

I really am not terribly concerned about our offense, but pitching and defense must get better.

It will all come down to pitching.That is how far the team will go.

I agree that if pitching does not reach the 3.00 ERA goal, it doesn't much matter what happens elsewhere; we will be similar to the last two years, or worse.
