Anyone remember The Library? I believe that was what was later called the Caboose. The Keg back then sold more Budweiser beer than any bar in the country. Beer was $.25 for a 10 oz cup. I remember USL held a Budweiser pep rally with the cheerleaders on the roof of the Keg to a packed parking lot. That would have been in the late '60s. One year, USL was named the #1 Party School in the country. A few memories I hadn't thought about in years.

Pretty sure the Budweiser truck free beer thing happened in 75 or 76. I was there and graduated HS in 73 so it couldn't have been in the late 60's unless they did it back then too????

Amos, your are pretty much correct. I still have a Schlitz pitcher today. So, that would make it 52 years old, meaning half way to being an antique! This special was only on Thursday nights, but we were actually able bring our Schlitz pitcher that we had previously purchased to get the "refill".

Also, Brass Rail was great for late, late night munchies. Of course you were about out of cash, so you would order a huge plate of French fries for a dollar. Unpealed and cut from fresh potatoes. Great for sharing while listening to some Allman Brothers, maybe Live at Fillmore East, who knows!

Brass Rail also did Bombay Sapphire for 50 cents on Friday afternoon, you know a primer for the evening!

I could go on and on... Great thread.

Enjoyed the burgers and fries at the Brass Rail many times.

I bar tended at L'ecole for a couple of years and got off sometime at 5am. Needless to say the 8am chemistry class was not great.

Uncle Pete's across from the plasma center, French Quarter Saloon, Swamp Fox all within walking distance with a stop at IHOP on the way back.

Also enjoyed white night on Wednesday's at the Bon Ton club on University with Red Beans and Rice Revue playing.

Bladder bust at NiteCaps in the late 80's and early 90's was epic. $5 cover, free beer until someone pee's or leaves. You better leave or be a chick, because if you were the one left you were getting your arse beaten or hazed severely.

I remember the pep rally with cheerleaders on top of the keg and the panhelenic council having a free refrigerated beer truck with taps on the side.

I also seem to remember a lagniappe day at one of the barns behind Blackham with free beer and all you can eat crawfish.
