ATC had been at the strip for as long as it existed. Downtown Bars were all 21 and over in the beginning, which kept all the under 21’s at the strip. Once the bars downtown started letting in under 21, the strip was done.Comment

Sidebar on Jefferson was one that you could get in to under 21. It was in that building on Jefferson and vermillion where the violin shop is now. It was a strange set up. The bathrooms were in the lobby and I can imagine the others in that building saw a nightmare or two on Mondays.
I think there was a water feature on the ground that people would constantly step in.Comment

Yours and mine both! I also remember a couple black guys in their 30's who put up a small barbecue pit at the corner by Shanahan's and cooked and sold THE BEST burgers!Comment

If they were there they didn’t give a ___.
Anyone 17 or older could go to the strip and get knock out drunk (for cheap) until about sometime in the mid 2000’s to 2010 ish. Then suddenly they couldn’t anymore
I had under 21 y/o friends from LSU/ BR that would come in to go to the strip often because they couldn’t do the same in BR👍 1Comment

Was having lunch on a random Saturday with a young lady when the Brass Rail burned.
Heck, you could go to Slick's (Signorelli's) in St. Martinville if your momma and dem dropped you off.
What curbed the drinking was MADD around 1980 or so. That late 60's to late 70's was a hell of a run party wise our children cannot comprehend.Comment

The bulldog was at the corner of gen mouton and mc kinley.. it was more of a drive in than a bar at that time. You could order burgers or po-boys though a screened window. They had a photo of Nikita Kruzchev framed with a toilet seat hanging on the wall.Comment

They were there all the time, they didn’t always go after the bars every night but they were writing MIP’s every night.
