They can't stop you from hanging out in the free parking area on your tailgate. That is my tailgate. literally.

          LOL

I wish, but it doesn't squash constructive ideas.

Lots of wrong numbers being thrown out regarding cost of tailgating. Click image for larger version

The per spot cost is $200. The location will determine what is the minimum RCAF contribution. If you want a spot in TG5, it will cost you a total of $450--that is $75 per game total which includes you RCAF fee.

Do you currently have a spot? Or are you just posting that?

the RCAF fees are steep. Especially for the product on the field.

Why does it matter if I have a spot? I am posting what the cost is which is factual compared to some of the comments in this tread.

For your information, yes, I have a spot. I also have a suite. I also have 4 courtside tickets for basketball which require $8K RCAF donation. Basically, the tailgating spot is costing me $200 since my RCAF fees are part of my various season ticket costs.

I gave up trying to provide factual info here. It's crazy all the misinformation. As you have noted your various season tickets contribute towards your RCAF status.

Just include it as a perk of RCAF level membership.

Why the tack on compilation complication?

sounds nice but in reality it is not feasible. We have roughly 1000 RCAF members, we don't have 1000 tailgate spots within the fences of Cajun Field.

$200 is nothing to pay for tailgating. Drive around Lafayette on a Friday or Saturday night and see every eating establishment is full. People have no problem dropping $100 on dinner for 2.

A great example of pricing something beyond the demand is RV spots. We went from having a waiting list of 35 plus... then started raising the price to where now we have around 55 unsold spots. $2,200 for RV sites is obviously more than the demand. I kept mine... but waaay too many folks decided it wasn't worth it.

So basically it’s not a bad deal if you are already all in on Cajun athletics, and for the record I’m all in on football and baseball already but people wonder why our stadiums are half empty because everything is setup to be all in. We are alienating thousands and thousands of people who support the Cajuns and would like to be involved but don’t live and breathe Cajun athletic events. We have to capture the people who just want something to do if we are ever going to grow. The all or nothing isn’t working.

Thanks, Cajun Fever, for contributing. I am in the middle of the RCAF pack. My total contributions last year were $3000, not counting what we spend at events. You have to get people who cannot afford the contribution into the tailgate area. And you have to pull them out of the eating establishments into Cajun Field. What do you propose to do? As cajun4life stated, "the RCAF fees are steep. Especially for the product on the field." How do you suggest we deal with that?

Given the local median incomes, etc and what it currently costs to eat out - it does always blow my mind seeing all the restaurants constantly packed.

It comes down to financial priorities I guess
