Hate to tell yall, but we will see a $12-18M decrease in the FY27 athletic budget.

We have better facilities now, but this is back to the Baldwin level of funding. We are toast.

Sounds like we should all brush up our resumes. Ragin Pagin AD by committee! Seriously, this is an attractive job will draw interest. The budget situation will clear up. Don't make a cheap hire is all I can suggest at this time.

I am hearing around $20 million in cuts to athletics. Hence why Maggard is leaving.

Attractive job with more cuts coming? This will not clear up soon, and look for a cheap or inexperienced hire.

That way, we will have secured both positions where we don’t have to worry about having to hire a replacement for either any time soon. Will give us all peace of mind to focus on other things.

Certainly, this is part of the fallout from the financial crisis he was a part of. They want to start fresh now with a new President. This will be a critical hire, we can only hope for the best.

Did Maggard just leave or was he shown the door?

Just read the article by UL Athletics that said Maggard will assist with a seamless transition. I think this means by promoting from within - Trey Frazier.
UL's athletic budget is over 40 million last i remembered.

is he leaving on his own or is he shown the door cause of the athletic mess UL is in?

Nico Yantko, the Director of Athletics at Murray State University, would be a great hire for Louisiana! Yantko has served as Murray State’s athletic director since September 2022. Before returning to his alma mater, he was the Deputy Athletic Director at the University of Louisiana and previously held athletic administration roles at the University of Missouri and NC State.

We deserve visionary leadership, and I believe Nico is the right person to return as Athletic Director. Nico brings the intelligence, experience, energy, and passion needed to lead a successful athletic program. Beyond his impressive accomplishments, he has an outgoing personality that connects with student-athletes, coaches, alumni, donors, and fans alike. He understands what it takes to build relationships, inspire confidence, and move a program forward.

Leadership matters, and Nico has consistently demonstrated the character, professionalism, and vision that make great athletic departments thrive. I would be excited to see him return to Louisiana and continue building on the cULture.

Savoy gone, TW asked to leave now Maggard gone. Something ugly is happening in athletics at UL. Pres. and Ad's heads are rolling. TW in my opinion was the fall guy (Lee Harvey)

UL's athletic department is suddenly looking for a new leader with Tuesday's announcement that Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Bryan Maggard is returning to Missouri as Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Operating Officer.
