I like both options. I don’t mind the state silhouette at all everybody uses it. SLU, Northwestern State, LaTech, even ULM has their own version. So I’m not against it.
But when it comes to originality and actually standing out, I think the L is the better direction. It may not look as sharp as the state outline on a football helmet, but for baseball and softball it’s absolutely on point. It has that clean, collegiate feel that could really become our identity if we committed to it.
That’s why I like posting this stuff. My opinion might be completely different from yours. A logo I love, you might think is terrible and vice versa. Everybody sees branding differently, and that’s what makes these conversations fun. Plus, it’s not like the University is going to use any of these designs anyway. I am just throwing ideas around and seeing what sticks.
Plus i love that i can design something and really get a feel for how it looks now a days without actually creating it. None of these existComment

No, I like them both, but the ones with the state of Louisiana reminds me of LaTech logo. The "L" would be unique. And the fleur de lis in the middle of the state is really impressive. Like I said, I do like it, but it does look like LaTech's.

Okay lets go a different route what are you most likely to spend money on. Your own hard money! Better yet which one would you wear out in public. I absolutely love the L hats. Can not mess with that.

Don't laugh, but I would spend my money on the fleur de lis in the middle of the state of LA first followed by the "L" with the fleur de lis. On the baseball hats, that absolutely looks better. The football helmets, again, just remind me of LaTech. But the baseball caps are da bomb.Comment

Thanks!! I made these renditions as well, as a throwback baseball uniform. Now that I am looking the state might be better

I wouldn’t worry about that at all. If someone wants to twist a letter into an insult, they’ll always find a way. Saying the L stands for “Loser” is no different than saying the M stands for “Moron” or the T stands for “Trash.” It’s playground‑level stuff, and every fanbase deals with it.
People will always make jokes that’s part of sports. But you don’t build your brand around what rival fans might say. You build it around what makes you recognizable, strong, and consistent.
If Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, Oregon, and every other major program worried about what their rivals could twist their letters into, none of them would have iconic logos today. They committed to their marks, and the identity became stronger than any joke.
That’s exactly why the “L” shouldn’t phase us one bit. A real logo becomes our meaning, not theirs.👍 2Comment
