Going into the critical Sun Belt series, the feeling was if the Cajuns would win the series over the Chanticleers, things would work out. The long, winding road would to respectability after a 4-9 ...

We'll have to win at least two this week for an at-large, probably three if we get dinged into the loser's bracket on Wednesday.

Agree for the most part. I think Cajuns need 3 wins.... which gets to the Saturday Semi-Finals. Also rooting against Troy and Texas State in every game.

Another projection, Baseball America, has us in the Florida regional as a 3 seed playing Oklahoma State.

I saw that one this morning, that is a tough regional. Here would be the breakdown as of right now.

                Florida 1 seed #10 RPI
                OSU 2 seed 27 RPI
                Louisiana 3 seed 36 RPI
North Florida 4 seed 146 RPI

Interesting it has 5 SBC teams in the tournament with USA being one of the 1st 8 out.

Who are the last ones in? Those are teams that need to watch out for the stolen bids... I would imagine at least 1-2 SBC teams are listed there.

YUGE game tonight vs Texas State, IMHO.

Yes, big game. With Troy and Texas State also winning in the opening round, the pecking order is about to be set between Louisiana, Texas State, and Troy. All of the RPI rankings are within spitting distance of each other ... with the actual RPI ratings tight. Conference finish is close ... with Troy holding a slight edge over Texas State and the Cajuns. But these tournament games are also conference games. Louisiana is the loser in head-to-head to both. Do not want to go 0-4 vs. Texas State. Meanwhile, Q1 record is much improved for Texas State (now 5-9, could be 6-9 with a win over the Cajuns). Troy, like the Cajuns, is 7-9 in Q1 games. The Cajuns have more Q1 losses (4) ... Troy has 3 and Texas State has 2.

Worst case scenario for the Cajuns is Texas State vs. Troy for the Sun Belt Tournament championship. But with Troy and Texas State continuing to win, they have firmly placed themselves in the position of an at-large bid (along with the Cajuns, obviously) ... and while you need to be a little concerned (emphasize little) ... I think the teams that should be more in peril are teams like Michigan, NC State, Kentucky, and East Carolina. The Sun Belt can get anywhere from three teams to five teams in the tournament, based on what has transpired recently. Let's hope that Arkansas State moving back into the Top 60 remains ... and that Coastal Carolina can get back into the Top 25 (currently 26).

Currently, UL (36), Troy (38) and Texas State (39) are all under 40 in the RPI

May be CDS kicking in but I’d think Texas State probably punched their ticket over us tonight with the 9th inning collapse, to go along with their regular season sweep.

It’s not “one or the other”. Both teams are now likely in.
