Feel like we are doing the same thing as we did with marlin for years. He's a good guy, runs a clean program but overall he has a .500 record against FBS opponents and clearly is not getting the job done.

He is slowly alienating the fan base year after year and is very much stuck in his ways

First tenure coaches should never be stuck in their ways.

And the thing is, once he’s gone, it’s going to take a while to get that fanbase back. Basketball is still recovering after Marlin and he was fired nearly 2 years ago

He isn't out there missing the tackles. Problem is we have to many Karens and Kens and not enough that know their ass from a hole in the ground and this program doesn't need Kens and Karens we need people who work on solutions not just sit and bitch. I would rather sit in a stadium with 15 thousand real fans than a full stadium with a bunch of walmart fans who jump ship week to week when things don't work out their way
Those extra Walmart fans help pay the bills. Averaging 15k in attendance will have the entire program struggling to stay relevant in even the Sun Belt. Only a complete moron would say we don’t need those extra non-diehard fans.

Sir, I understand what you're saying, but the economics of it is we really need every bandwagon fan we can get to devote a bit of their disposable income towards supporting the Cajuns. Most folks are not dyed in the wool college football fans much less Ragin Cajuns fans. The reality is many, on a whim, are simply looking for something social & fun to do in their spare time. I'm not one to blame the fans for low attendance. University & Athletic department leadership make decisions, as they should, that influence whether our the fan base grows or shrinks. Only 15,000 attending is one of the consequences that we see play out when there is only an average effort over and over again by our leaders to be in alignment with fans, the ticket buying public that pays the bills. Over the past 15 years, university and athletic department leaders and donors get an A+ for upgrading all major sports facilites many that are above and beyond many P4 programs. Otherwise not much has changed, FCS moveups continue to pass us by to greater opportunities and that can be as demoralizing as much as losing football games in the 4th Qtr. to weaker teams we have no business losing to.

Desormeaux has built a roster that is better than every team in the west. Hell it’s better than every team but JMU.

He’s just a 6 win coach, so if he lucks into another 10 win season because we stay healthy and the ball bounces our way, we will give him another extension.

Another major problem is he never had any excitement around the program. For us, that should be a requirement for a HC. Be like Hud and win 9-10 games a year and this place would be rocking. Especially if we can own LaTurd, USM, ULM and South Alabama.

              That’s the blueprint.
I agree with all this. When you have boosters who are throwing good money towards the inconsistent performances like the ones we have been treated to the last few years, they find other things to do with their money. Have you been to the recruiting bashes? You're paying $1000 to get into rooms where the coordinators are far more entertaining than the head honcho. I know Mike's personality isn't at all like Hud's, but geez... Please make a concerted effort to be artfully persuasive. Shake some hands, joyfully take some questions. Be a kleig light instead of a 60 watt bulb. Shine like the frickin' sun. This is an opportunity to get more buy in, literally; it is a chance to pick up a few more checks from the people who care about the program. We sometimes bring the kids. They need to see a guy who gets them to buy in, too. Do what it takes! Read. The. Room.

Yep, the head coach needs to be a salesman as well as an X's & O's guy. A good salesman, too!
