He can't do that if he is calling plays.

After putting up 30 plus he sees the defense give it right back.

Attention diverted.

As head coach this problem absolutely deserves his focus.

The current setup has the play caller spread too thin at the worst possible time.

Having built the new stadium on the west side with Des as the head coach is like a homeowner building a beautiful pool but not putting the chemicals in it to keep the algae from growing. Wait until the east side is complete and we still have Des as a coach. I would also disagree about him being not a great coach. We don’t know if he is, what we do know is that he is absolutely trash as a player caller and has cost himself roughly 2 wins a season.

His refusal to utilize an OC as an OC will cost him his job.

Coach Des can’t call plays, can’t fund raising, can’t engage fans, can’t recruit depth, and can’t win consistently. What does he do well as a head coach?

For 5 years, he’s been consistently inconsistent. He doesn’t know how to win relentlessly. He coaches scared. These are not qualifications of a head good coach. You get a half empty stadium with uninterested fans and mediocre results. He’s a proven good assistant coach.

Building depth in this portal era is difficult. Also until the roster approaches $7-8M annually we won’t win at the level Napier had us.

We should be a 10 win team with our resources and schedule. NC State is competing with programs that are vying for a NC. We are not.

There in not 3 rosters on our schedule that are better than ours. Excluding USC.

His stated goal is to win 6 games to become bowl eligible, but can’t win a bowl game with his own players and game plan. What’s the point if he folds and can’t win big games? It’s time to change the culture of can’t to a culture of champions.
