Is anyone else hearing the name Jay Artigues being floated around as being in the mix? He is the former baseball coach at Southeastern Louisiana who is now the athletic director there. Im hearing that he’s getting serious consideration for the “CEO” role.

I don’t know much about him except I remember him playing the petty name game bull___ on the scoreboard (ala LA Tech) when our baseball team has played in Hammond.

He’s made some decent hires for baseball and softball at Southeastern but would he move the needle from a financial and fan engagement / “CEO” standpoint here?

Abject failure if we hire Artigues. The guy despises UL athletics.

Find me a guy who is like Hudspeth, who will actually get out and rally the base and understand what needs to be done here.

My guess....someone who's been in both college athletic management and who has spent some time in an NFL or NBA front office.

Dr. K won't allow that to happen. That CEO position as opposed to an AD, is his vision, not the norm (having a vision) for the last 50 years of UL Athletics

He seems to be doing pretty well for himself. We can even build him an office on top of Cajun Field so he can keep an eye on his rockets launching while running the athletic department.

He already knows how to launch rockets. Now let's see if he can launch Louisiana Athletics into the stratosphere!

He needs the skill of scheduling high payouts for Louisiana out of conference games. BIG12

He can't be afraid of scheduling.

He can't be afraid to change coaches.

He has to negotiate low coaching buyouts.

Agree. Don't hire an AD from an FCS school unless you want little more than an FCS school program which is almost what we have now. We can't even hire back an asst AD now at his FCS Alma mater with a better situation.than can likely offer.

Find a successful FCS AD who has orchistrated success (not inherited) and consistently negotiated top possible dollar from P4 schools.

Play more money games vs P4 schools. I would rather make money to fund our program with a possibility of winning and uplifting our program than play an FCS school for a sure win with little revenue value.

Correct. Start targeting Tarleton State and maybe Lamar. Both solid programs at that level

I’ll take the former McNeese AD who got Will Fupa Wade and raised all that NIL money in Lake Charles.

I think he’s an associate AD at LSU now.
