    Athletic Director / CEO Hire

Is anyone else hearing the name Jay Artigues being floated around as being in the mix? He is the former baseball coach at Southeastern Louisiana who is now the athletic director there. Im hearing that he’s getting serious consideration for the “CEO” role.

I don’t know much about him except I remember him playing the petty name game bull___ on the scoreboard (ala LA Tech) when our baseball team has played in Hammond.

He’s made some decent hires for baseball and softball at Southeastern but would he move the needle from a financial and fan engagement / “CEO” standpoint here?

I don’t think he moves the needle here, but I expect UL to get significant increase nationally for this CEO position. This is a critical hire for the financial growth of our university, athletics, and the Louisiana branding.

I agree that this is a critical hire given the current state of flux in college athletics nationally. Hopefully we get someone with the business savvy and vision that would deserve the “CEO” title

        Would be a disaster imo

Gotta get this one right. I could care less if they wait until around the 1st of the year to get this right. Take your time, don't rush, find the right candidate!

I truly believe the right candidate is out there at another university doing impressive things. We hired a consultant firm the last time. I hope we take this hire seriously again too.

Is there a selection committee for this hire? How and who will make this hire?

                Increased interest nationally?

We can call it CEO, AD, VP of Athletics…whatever. We need to have the money to pay at a competitive level, and to staff at one. If not, then it won’t be a highly desired position for quality candidates, no matter what you call it.

UL can’t afford to be cheap here if it wants financial stability and growth.

You are talking about an institution that can't afford to pay their electric and cable bills. And no I'm not being factious.

Dr. K won't allow that to happen. That CEO position as opposed to an AD, is his vision, not the norm (having a vision) for the last 50 years of UL Athletics
