I turned in at halftime but if you take away the punt TD and the almost int TD, we could have been in the mix. Stats show that we held our own. Remembering the NIL/talent differences and we should be proud. I do not think of this as a loss but a good progress report on our team. D was flying to the ball!

I was very happy with the result. Our backup receivers played exceptionally well, Lunch was awesome, the linebackers and dbs flew around, offensive line was out manned by USC defensive line, but I think we will be okay in that regard moving forward against lesser defensive lines… my biggest concern was our defensive line. They got bullied and looked tiny compared to USC offensive line. I can remember not long ago when we looked bigger than our p5 opponents… not anymore. All in all, a good day that leaves me optimistic about our chances in the Belt race.

Dez takes heat still for play calling, but is that warranted based on what we’ve seen the first 2 games of this year? It seems they are moving the ball around and putting lunch in a position to make plays.

It was a tough evaluation for UL's defense after Saturday's 49-30 loss to the No. 14-ranked USC Trojans at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

The hard truth was the Trojans' offense collected 25 first downs, passed for 269 and ran for 214 more for 483 total yards.

USC also controlled the time of possession 33:14 to 26:46.

But until the fourth quarter, it always felt like the Trojans' offense had to work for its yardage.

Both lines got absolutely caved in as expected. RBs only had 16 carries for 55 yards. If you take out the 18 yard rush they only averaged about 2 yards a carry.

Babineaux really stepped up and lunch is the real deal. Im going to enjoy him this year because he is gone next year. The offense did fairly well despite missing Sampson, Jensen, Chaney, strother, and darrel smith being extremely limited and without a touch.

despite not being able to stop USC i was really impressed by the effort all game long. There was no quite tonight like against Missouri last year.

Special team were pitiful. That punt return was awful so many missed tackles, Tony Sterner missing a chip shot field goal, and the punter was not very good with 35 yard punt average with a long of only 43 yards.

Now for coaching. After the interception Des should have went for it on 4th and 1 instead of kicking it. Scoring a TD could have shifted momentum tremendously to start game. Salgado seemed to call a nice game but we were just simply outmanned.

Overall was happy about the effort and offense put up much more points than I had expected.

I was not happy with forcing only one punt. I realize opposition had something to do with that. However the team knows they have to improve on point of getting off field on third/fourth down. If they do not, they will not reach their goals.
