2026 Softball Offseason

Two coaches that will be on the hot seat with a new AD are Habetz and Dez. Both need big years this upcoming season. Deggs is safe because of his results overall, White is safe because he is so new, but any incoming AD will look at the results of softball and football and want/expect more.

Our budget situation prevents us from paying buyouts to any coaches at this stage. None will be fired. Some may leave on their own.

Post death penalty, he kind of went the opposite way, seeming to keep them down.

By not sending in Louisiana's defense or explanation to the NCAA he induced the death penalty.

That began the era of do nothing and everthing will be fine.

In summary, after 693 posts, we did get 3 players out of the portal??? A pitcher with good potential from California, a catcher with good potential from Florida State, and I believe one more decent player. Is that correct???

Yep. We needed to knock it out of the park and I don’t think we did but we will see…just feels like the staff aimed high then settled. I do like the catcher though …

No. 3 total portal players, that include the Florida State catcher. Nobody knows their D1 potential as they are all new to D1.

I keep thinking about the famous line on “Money Ball”, “He gets on base”. If we can’t afford the Superstars, we need the people that can get on base.

The problem last season wasn't getting runners on base. The problem was getting hits once they got runners on base. Clutch hitting with RISP was terrible.
