2026 Softball Offseason

I know I have been critical of our approach to the portal, though not overly critical of the girls we got in the portal. I took a look at the portal results for the other teams in the SBC, and I honestly believe that it is not a stretch to say that no one in the Belt even came close to getting the same quality/quantity of portal players that have joined the Cajuns.

I agree that Conde and Spinogatti are unproven, and that Favors has very little D1 experience; but all have pretty good potential to produce for us. I am cautiously optimistic that they will all be able to help us to some degree this year.

Coastal picked up a D2 All-American with big-time power and speed numbers. Not sure what everyone else in the SBC did.

They also picked up another D2 player with great power numbers. I like their philosophy; lets see how those two do this year.

Nobody else did very well in the portal.

Texas State new pitching coach is a former Cajun. Alyssa Denham.

She is also currently on the injured list for the Texas Volts of the AUSL.

I don’t think that’s what he meant. My assumption was that Suave meant the new AD may not be as forgiving or loyal as Maggard.

Two coaches that will be on the hot seat with a new AD are Habetz and Dez. Both need big years this upcoming season. Deggs is safe because of his results overall, White is safe because he is so new, but any incoming AD will look at the results of softball and football and want/expect more.
