Big game today. Sweeping Marshall would send a message, plus we do not want a team from the east to win the regular season title. ULM can thank us later.
A Cajuns win today at worst gives us a chance to move up two spots in the conference standings. We are currently tied for sixth with JMU [so 7th, since JMU holds the tie breaker]. and one game behind USA in fifth. JMU plays Marshall in Huntington next week; a series I expect Marshall to win. We are on the road at USA. To secure 6th, we need to win one more game than JMU in the remaining conference schedule. To achieve 5th is possible. If we win today and USA loses to USM, we move into a tie for 5th with the Jags [and JMU if they win today]. Even if we lose today and USA and JMU both win, a sweep of USA next weekend would put us alone in fifth, provided JMU gets swept by Marshall. Winning today is huge.
