Malan Potgieter appears to be representing Louisiana

It's been quite a week for UL golfer Malan Potgieter.

On Tuesday, Potgieter was selected to the prestigious Arnold Palmer Cup matches in early July.

On Wednesday, the native of Kirkwood, South Africa, officially advanced to the NCAA Division I men’s golf championships for the third time.

UL’s senior standout was selected to the field Wednesday and is the top-ranked individual at the Athens Regional, being played at the University of Georgia course. Potgieter is one of four Sun Belt Conference individuals playing in the Athens Regional, along with Southern Miss, who earned an at-large entry into the championships as one of three Sun Belt teams in the field.

From the NCAA site: The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.

Not sure if there is a playoff, but Malan advances as an Individual (representing the Ragin Cajuns) to the NCAA Finals at La Costa, California. This is awesome for this young man. Congrats to Malan!!! and Go Cajuns!!!
