One of the things they promote now is opening up Russo Park for people who don't have tailgating spots.

The problem is that it is nice just inconvenient, i mean if i am walking across congress, why would i walk all the way to Russo Park, if I want to bring a chair or small cooler, or grill i am not trying to bring all that across the world not worth the hassle, that is why it needs to be in the middle in the NEZ.

NEZ you could make it where i could drop my stuff off, and dad or whoever can park the car, and after the game is over, i can walk pick up my stuff, or i can get the car drive it to the NEZ parking lot and go on my merry way.

It appears that scoreboard has video on both sides. Looks like the people on the ground are watching. Put that in the north end zone and have it play some big national game before our game starts, for the tailgaters. The shaded bar underneath along with several layers of tiered areas would be a nice fit for our stadium.

When nothing is going on, on the field, I'm watching other games in the concessions area horse shoe. It's always a good idea to throw up scores across the country (and Way better to see 'em on a screen).

If I understand this correctly, you are parking across Congress Street in the free parking area, then wanting a chair and a small cooler and/or grill into the Cajun Field tailgating area? So, you are either not planning on going into the gane, or you are just leaving your stuff outside. Why not just tailgate where you parked?

I know at least one RV tailgator that preferred it when he was parking along Cajun Walk with the track on the back side of their RV.

Probably not as much room for growth there but location with a shuttle service would be a nice perk for some.

IDC all I’m saying is it needs to be centrally located. I assume most people with parking passes and season tickets park inside Cajun Field. That whole inside area is basically reserved for parking‑pass wne season ticket holders. Meanwhile, most single‑game fans park across Congress. Am I right in that assumption? Because that’s how it looks every game day.

And that’s the whole point: I’d love to tailgate right by my car so I don’t have to lug all my stuff across the world. I’m not trying to drag chairs, a cooler, and a small grill all the way from the free lot, across Congress, through crowds, and into a tailgate zone that’s nowhere near where I actually parked. It’s not practical for regular fans.

This is about accessibility and convenience.
Most people want to tailgate close to where they park. They want to set up, enjoy the pregame, walk into the stadium, and when the game is over, grab their stuff and head straight to their car. That’s simple. That’s logical. That’s what casual fans prefer.

Right now, the setup makes that almost impossible unless you’re paying for a premium tailgate spot or a parking pass. A centrally located, fan‑friendly tailgating area especially near where single‑game fans already park solves that problem. It makes tailgating easier, more accessible, and more enjoyable for the majority of people who aren’t paying thousands of dollars.

That’s all I’m getting at. Tailgating shouldn’t be a chore. It should be convenient, especially for the fans who park across Congress and just want a simple setup by their car.

Of course i am going to the game! I am trying to be realistic about the situation.

in my earlier post we were told you can not tailgate by your vehicle that you need a tailgate spot.

What could possibly go wrong with having a tailgate gas grilling session & alcohol surrounded by 20 cars in a parking lot? I am sure the firetruck would be able to put that fire out pretty quickly before the 20 cars full of fuel ignite and cause a major inferno

The free tailgating area needs to be in the most central location where people actually park on game day. Most single‑game fans park across Congress I am assuming, and that’s where I park too. When I walk to the stadium, the NEZ lot is directly on my path, both going in and coming out. That’s why it makes the most sense to me. it’s accessible, convenient, and doesn’t require hauling my chair and maybe a small popup tent across long distances.

i can hitch hike back to my car if i want to put my stuff up, or i can leave it out there and on my way back from after the game i can get my stuff and bring it back to my car.

if that is the case they need to provide food and drink options like i was saying.

$200 should be at or near one of the RCAF membership entry points. As with all other RCAF memberships it should come with tailgating offerings.

$200 should not be a tailgate price alone

Tailgate price freezes you, membership has room for growth, contact and connections.

ps it should never be RCAF plus extra tailgating money (the model they have now)

Nobody is asking for “free stuff.” What we’re talking about is fan accessibility and revenue growth. A free tailgating zone isn’t a handout it’s a strategy. When you make tailgating easier for regular fans, more people show up, stay longer, and spend money on food, drinks, merch, and tickets.

Right now, empty tailgate spots make $0.
A free or low‑cost fan zone brings in hundreds of dollars per spot through vendors and increased attendance.

This isn’t about avoiding a $200 fee. It’s about UL creating an environment where casual fans actually want to come back. If the goal is to grow the fanbase and increase revenue, you have to make game day more accessible not more exclusive.

That’s the whole point.
