Before we get started, I need to clarify one thing: Ragin’ Review is not a sunshine pumper.

I know. Shocker.

Over the years that our show has existed, we have often been crowned by certain UL insiders as the negative cloud hanging over Reinhardt Drive.

Our team prides itself on giving opinions from a fan’s perspective. Let’s face it... that’s all we are. We’re just a group of (mostly) purebred Cajun guys who bleed vermilion and white and embrace Ragin’ Cajuns fandom like few others do.

When you consider who founded the "Current", or at least two of the three, you understand that:

1- They are probably the types who see athletics at a university as “a waste”, probably similarly to Ray Authement.

2- I’m willing to bet they do not like, and maybe even abhor, our new university President, because he is one of the few folks in modern day academia who is favorable towards the oil & gas and petrochemical industries.

Back in 2024, The Lens, whose founders and philosophies are aligned with The Current’s head people, wrote a hit piece against both Dr. Kolluru and Dr. Mark Zappi for working with industry in research and development.

These kinds of people in the media are likely to have it out for Dr. Kolluru, and therefore UL, for the foreseeable future.

And of course, Martin Hall just couldn't help but give them the free ammo to work with. Hopefully Dr. Kolluru will be someone who can bring Martin Hall to understand being accountable to the tuition payers and the taxpayers, while also being pro-UL and help promote athletics. Because being the same ole same ole arrogant good ole boy like we've been led by for decades isn't going to work in our favor.
