Dammit.
He was a big contributor on offense and defense, and we can't afford hits to our offense.
4th in batting average
3rd in OPS
3rd in hits
Team leader in doubles
6th in RBIs
3rd in total bases
4th in slugging %
2nd in on-base %😞 1Comment

Could be either of those guys. Or Lim or Bellard (both infielders by trade) or someone else in the OF (Mandino, Lacava, etc) with LaSalle at 1B and Amedee at 2B like we saw at the end of the game yesterday. Or Dobson at 1B with Amedee at 2B.
Either way it’s a big loss for the team and just a terrible way for Rigo’s college career to end.
One thing that it is though, is an opportunity for someone to step up and show what they can do. All of these guys are talented and capable, and the opportunity is now there.Comment

While there is no way we can replace Rigo's play 100%, the good news is that we do have a number of players that can fill in at the middle infield position. The question is going to be what coach is looking for on any given day. As stated, before Lim, Bellard, Galt and Hebert are the most logical choices, but we also have the ability to move Amedee who is a solid infielder to the 2B position and then move Lasalle or even Spalita to 1B. Coach has options, he was really impressed with Bellard before the season started, Galt was a starter for much of the season last year and hit well, Lim has given us some quality play this season, and Griffin came off the bench with a bomb on Sunday. The options are there, I hate to move Amedee off 1st as he is really good there not that Lasalle wouldn't be, but it is hard to replace what Lee gives you at 1B. Rigo was so impressive this year, much better than I would have expected when we signed him out of William Carey College. His bat, his defense and his leadership was 2nd to none. Good news is we have a chance tomorrow night to play around with these options before Friday vs a very good App team. Galt hit .277 in 41 starts last year, his weakness was he had an .893 fielding % last year, while Rigo was .990, granted 2B is different than SS or 3B, but .893 is not good. To put that in perspective Blaze Rodriguez is at .963 and Drew Markle is at .936 in 48 starts and 47 starts respectively. I think that Griffin will get the start, because coach always gives a start to the guy who hit a HR in the previous game. But I would not be shocked if CMD makes a few moves tomorrow night to play with the lineup a little bit before this weekend.
Rigo, we will miss you. Thanks for all you did this season, so sorry the season had to end the way it did for you. It will be hard to replace his play, but I am sure coach has a plan.Comment
