And that’s why they don’t release the schedule until after the renewal deadline.

I told the Administration that would be the case for many people following last season. Response was they would take that into consideration when making game time decisions going forward.

Recall I mentioned that the budget situation would likely cause us to go back to scheduling non D1 games. Turns out I was right. I don't mean to gloat about being right here. It just shows how severe the budget situation is. Fortunately it is only 2. We are also required to have a certain number of home games due to the Learfield contract. The 40 grand difference to pay a SWAC team to come vs non D1 is not justifiable with our current attendance. Now let's win big and have bigger crowds going forward so we can afford it. We are also likely to play North Texas at home in an exhibition. Reason is we went there last year and that was supposed to be a home and home deal.

                You stated "go back"

I believe the current attendance woes "go back" to the poor scheduling prior.

They lost a lot of seats with the go back routine.

One two or three seasons of good scheduling in a row would not fix the attendance woes the penny pinchers created, but eventually it would have fixed itself.

Not gonna lie. I actually enjoyed the game times last season. I understand others feel different but I liked having my evenings to do other things.

Think the coaching apathy might have played a part.

and part of that coaching retention apathy was due to his weak scheduling.

Yet, this schedule is very similar to that of Coach Marlin. Q would prefer not to schedule non D1 games but is forced to do so this year. Major issue is lack of consistent winning. The key word there being "consistent". Win at a high level for 2 straight years and fans will want to see your team play regardless of opponent. After all, the bulk of your games are in conference play anyway.

I understand that viewpoint. However, people who have to deal with schedules of kids/grandkids have a tough time attending noon games. Late afternoon may be a compromise.
