I really feel that if UL had gone to CUSA (before Tech did) the two conferences would be in opposite situations than they are right now.

Given my own choices, if we are going to remain forever in a mid-tier conference, I would prefer to split the SBC, forming a conference of current [2027] SBC West Members ASU, UL, ULM, LaTech, USM, USA and Troy, plus current CUSA members Jacksonville State, Sam Houston and Missouri State. In football play 9 conference games with no divisions, 27 conference games in Baseball and Softball, 18 in hoops. Our chances of ever being in a Power conference died when we appointed Ray Authemont as President.👍 1Comment

The original post was made by them, they want us.... not saying what is best, other posts are valid points, but they started this roundI really wish we would drop this. The PAC does not want us, never did, it was just some dreaming on here nor does any others wanting to grow and prosper! What do we as a member bring? Budget deficit, poor attendance, poor traveling fan base, diamond sports somewhat dropping, basketball team still rebuilding yet questionable as far as competitive, aging fan base, lack of marketing, among other issues. We are where we are and where we will stay for the foreseeable future until we do a 360 in the issues mentioned above. Sorry but we are a regional team that can not even get our own regional fans to support us.Comment

Very interesting coming from a toolame fan... I still think we should be eyeing the Big 12, if we're going to switch conferences at all.Did anyone post this reddit thread on the subject?

There many, many posters here who simply do not understand college athletics. They are great fans, but they do not understand that the PAC-12 is not a viable option, that Dr. Maggard and the administration are doing a good job of playing the hand that they have been dealt, that the sky is not falling, that Cajun Disaster Syndrome is REAL, that the Big 12 isn't an option now, and maybe never, that the Sun Belt is the best possible situation that we could currently find ourselves in, and that we could find ourselves in a much more precarious position should the next round of realignment shift half our current conference mates to the eastern time zone, and leave us with fewer options than we have right now. The clock is ticking. When we renegotiate with ESPN, they might put together an offer that pulls the rug out from under us. In the meantime, we must get our financial house in order. We have less than 4 years to stack our cash.Comment

im guessing the leadership at Texas State dont understand college athletics either. Its great if thats the ceiling you have for this University. It seems to be pervasive here. I call them the, "we cant do that here" gang. But at least your view is consistent since you think our admin has done the best job possible here. There many, many posters here who simply do not understand college athletics.
