The same things that have "held us back" for decades will still exist once 2031 gets here. It isn't the administration. It's fans who are quicker to open their complaining mouths than their wallets. Apparently, there are simply not enough dollars in south Louisiana to get what we all want. We don't have Big XII money. We don't have American money. We don't even have Southern Miss or Coastal baseball money. In 2031, you all will find that out when ESPN fractures our current conference lineup. THAT is why Texas State got out. They don't have the money to hang with the James Madisons.Comment

I don't doubt that this is some of it. But I win continue to say that just like Texas State did when they joined the SBC, they are betting on themselves in the PAC. They knew what the upside could be from moving from FCS to the SunBelt and they know what the upside can be moving from the SBC to the PAC, they are willing to take the risks and the costs involved to move to PAC. I love the makeup of the current SBC, the only thing that could make it better would be adding a UAB and ECU or someone like that, but chances are that is not happening in the near future, so what is the next best option, because the fact is, I don't care if you are JMU or App or anyone else in this conference you are not getting an invite to a P4 conference anytime soon. So, you have to be looking at the AAC or PAC, the PAC partners you with teams on the same level as the current SBC in Boise, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State, while also partners you with former P4 teams in Oregon State and Washington State. Texas State is betting that the PAC adds some more eastern teams to make their lives a little easier for travel in the future, but understands that on a Saturday if you are matched up in a game vs Boise or Oregon State, you are probably going to get more coverage than if you are matched up with a UL, La Tech or Arkansas State. They are also thinking about the future with the potential of an East/West split in the SBC which would leave them partnered with some decent schools, but not the App, JMU, ODU type money/upside that the east has. I would bet donuts to dollars that Texas State would love to see UL or someone of that caliber from the SBC to join the PAC with them. The problem is financially the only team from the SBC West that I think could do it was Texas State. I don't think Arkansas State, Tech, UL, USM, Troy or USA is in any type of position to take that move right now. Someone or 2 will make the move to the PAC from the SBC or CUSA or another conference, mark my words and that school, will have to figure it out for a couple of seasons, but the long-term advantages, in my mind, far outweigh the short-term negatives. The same things that have "held us back" for decades will still exist once 2031 gets here. Not to mention that with Oregon State, Washington State, San Diego State, Gonzaga and others, you immediately improve your basketball conference. The question is going to be baseball, from what I can tell, unless there is a plan, the PAC will only have Oregon State, Washington State, Texas State, San Diego State, Dallas Baptist, Gonzaga (both Affiliate Members) and Fresno State playing baseball.
If they were a conference this year here is what it would have looked like:
17 Oregon State
44 Texas State
49 Gonzaga
71 Dallas Baptist
85 Washington State
100 San Diego State
288 Fresno State👍 2Comment

Another one of the, "we cant do that here" crowd. There is money here in South Louisiana, and all over the country in alums. Guess who's job it is to get that money here? Guess who has failed at doing that? Is it the complaining fans fault that we ran out of water at a football game with 90+ degree temperature? Is it the complaining fans fault the students, Greeks have been alienated? Guess what? We get what we tolerate. And fans in the "we cant do that here" crowd, are like gold to our administration. Heck, they even go out and try to recruit other members to exclaim how we cant do that here. The term FAN is short for fanatic. Theres nothing fanatical about being content in holding your program back. Im not on that team, Eor. No thanks. The same things that have "held us back" for decades will still exist once 2031 gets here. It isn't the administration. I don't think there is nearly as much money here as you think. They approached Matt Stuller many times and he was simply not interested in athletics. That does not mean we should stop asking others of course.Comment

Brother, its the opposite. There is more money here than you think. Matt Stuller isn't the only rich guy here. Just a few years ago, we had a fish bigger than Matt, and we turned him away. FACTS.Comment

Well, James. If there's money here, and it is SO easy to get... YOU go get it. The last thing you should be doing is trying to lecture someone with more than a half-century of supporting our university.

Oh, you want the "complaining fans" to go out and get that money? So, ZERO responsibility/accountability for the admin? Got it. And nobody said a single thing about whether you support the university, or for how long youve been doing it. Has nothing to do, BTW, with what we are discussing. Its whether this admin has been successful at raising money. New money in particular. And money thats walked away because of the lackluster job they do. You seem to be more than happy with the job theyre doing.
And guess what? We're all fans here, and you ain't better than anybody that is. So maybe the last thing YOU should be doing is lecturing other fans about voicing their opinions. Although your viewpoint aligns with the admins, so Im not surprised you dont like people pointing out their glaring shortcomings.👍 3Comment
