Cajuns' 2021 year end CFB ranking AP was #16, Coaches poll #18. Only other 'current' G6 ranked teams were Utah St. at Baseball: Louisiana Baseball Preview: at Arkansas State in both polls and San Diego St. Baseball: Cajuns Get Big Innings In ...Over Grambling in the AP. Other G6 teams receiving votes on year end 2021 polls were Air Force, UTSA, Coastal, Fresno, Army, & UAB. In the current CBS Sports 2026 preseason rankings, of the aforementioned group UTSA is highest at #59 followed by CajunsWin SB G1 Louisiana 3 , Marshall 2 San Diego, Final SB G3 Louisiana 2, Marshall 3 Fresno, #77 Army, #90 Utah St., #96 Air Force & # 113 Coastal, & Jaden Dugger UAB. All have fallen way off whether due to coaching changes, realignment, transfer portal and/ or NIL. Since preseason polls are based upon perception and previous season experience you'd be wise to take the CBS preseason rankings with a grain of salt since it ranks TX St. at Baseball: A-State Strikes In Middle ...Louisiana, 8-3 which is twelve spots above UL. What a farce! Still even with my own built in bias I wouldn't preseason rank us more than a few spots higher than shown. Adding insult to injury are recent FCS moveups James Madison & JAX St. surpassing us in football success. The trajectory is we've fallen from a top 10 G6 program to middle of the pack G6. Hoping this season will be different just harder to remain optimistic with each passing year.

Makes sense, but I do think we should be the top G6/mid-major for baseball. Which to be honest, at this point with the current landscape of college athletics overall combined with the "effort" from our university "leadership", baseball and track & field is all I care to invest any donations into.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The PAC Whatever is not the top G6 conference just because they say it is.
