When UL athletic director Dr. Bryan Maggard phoned former Ragin' Cajun baseball great Jonathan Lucroy with the big news, the longtime major league catcher said he couldn't even believe what he was hearing.
"I was like, 'What?" Lucroy said. "Are you serious? Where did that come from?"
Maggard was informing him the athletic department had decided to retire Lucroy's college jersey No. 21 and put it on the outfield wall at Tigue Moore Field alongside Ron Guidry's No. 3 and Tony Robichaux's No. 36.
