Yes that was mentioned in a different thread, nice pickup for the Cajuns. Kind of looked like a specialty guy the Gamecocks, only pitched 17.2 innings, but made 15 appearances. Averaged over a K per inning, with 20 K's in 17.2 innings. Originally signed and redshirted at Ole Miss, before going to Juco for 2 years.

Foote’s article says he will be a senior.

Correct. Red shirt at Ole Miss in 2023. Two years of JUCO ball, and 1 at Jax State.

Redshirt year counts with new rule, not an extra year anymore. It's 5 in 5 only. 2026 class is done, no 5 in 5 for them. However, the JUCO cluster is up in the air. Some talk of those 2 years not counting in some situations. Coach at a combine we were at recently was adamant that the 2 JUCO years wouldn't count towards NCAA eligibility for players before the 5 in 5 is passed.

Whether JUCO years count or not, your clock starts at 19 years old, or when you enter college. And this kid in particular started at Ole Miss in 2023, so the 2027 season would be his final one regardless.

Cajuns add Loyola Marymount catcher Jose Carmona. Medical redshirt, did not play last season. Hit .314 with 32 RBIs in 45 games at Odessa College in 2025.

Another player in the mix, Loyola Marymount Catcher Jose Carmona Jr. He did not play this season on a medical redshirt. He played 45 games the previous season for Odessa College and hit .314 with 32 RBI's. He has 2 years of eligibility left. Should be a nice backup for Colt Brown if he is healthy.

Carmona brings the roster total to the max of 34, assuming every new guy shows up and all of the returning players that have said they will be back, come back. Also assuming Chase Morgan stays, and Brasch leaves after the draft.

I would think that one of the pitchers would be told “thanks, but no thanks” if Brasch wanted to come back though.

This to me was a big get. We need a backup catcher and Spalitta could be that guy, but this give you much needed depth and the ability to give colt some time off here and there. We were unable to do that this year because of Torres injury. As coach stated it was a struggle because your backup catcher was your everyday dh.

And we can use the same cheer.

I’m pretty sure we can take 38 into the fall and you just take best 34 into the spring or if there is an injury.
