I'll never understand running on contact from 3rd when you have no chance.

It is a called play. You start running as soon as you see ball hit bat. It is a risk when the opponent has infield playing in. However good job getting into long rundown. It allowed tying run to get to second base.

It’s a designed play, called contact play. It’s done when you have 1 out in the inning. If you see that you will be out then you get in a pickle and allow the backside runner to advance to scoring position, which Lewis did. There was going to be 2 outs in the inning regardless if the runner stayed at 3rd or not. Odds are Lewis will score from 2nd with a hit anyway, which he did. Results of the inning was 1 run, same as if Lim had stayed at 3rd.
The hope is that the play goes to home and we beat it out and both runners are safe.
