That is the world of college athletics nowadays, specifically successful mid major college athletics.

I’m here for my crow. I didn’t think we would respond the way we did after the mid season slump. Normally Matt Deggs coached UL teams are maddening to watch even when are winning it seems but the last month and half has been some damn good baseball. Credit to the coaches and team for righting the ship and making people like me put their own foot in their mouth. Now go win a regional and a super so we can join hands and walk through the gates of Omaha together. Geaux Cajuns

I saw a Twitter post that P Cowan Alfonso is entering the transfer portal. Checked the roster, and he’s been removed.

OF Jayce Lacava, P Wil Taylor, and P Murphy Brooks are also now not on the roster.

Alfonso and Taylor both struggled mightily this season. So no surprise there. Lacava had a nice run for 4 or 5 games, then went back to back games without a hit in the next two, mid-season at Texas State, and never saw the field again.

I hate to see Brooks go. He seemed like a great clubhouse guy, and someone who could possibly help next season. He picked up wins in relief in each of his first two outings, then walked both batters he faced during the bullpen meltdown against UNO…and never made another appearance.

Best of luck to all of these guys wherever they end up.

I hate being in an era where players (and coaches) leave their teams during a post season run. You never know when you might have to call on someone.

Agreed. But I assume the postseason roster size is smaller than the 34 during the season. And guys that are left off the postseason roster are trying to get a jump on finding a place to play next year.

Again, that’s an assumption, but if that’s correct, I get it.

In this era ... instead of "I got your back in crunch time" it's "I gotta back out, it's I got another hunch" this ime.

                Preach that for sure!
