A couple comments early on about leaving the Belt. After all, they said, we’re a one or two bid league. This year proved otherwise.

Not sure if anyone remembers but as soon as 2025 was over I said UL would be back in in 2026. Glad I was right.

I believe this is his best coaching job yet. What a recruiting class he had. If these freshmen can stay we are going to be even more dangerous next year.

I’m not sure it’s his best coaching job, he coached us out of a few wins. But, this is his best recruiting class and if we can keep everyone we will be unreal.

Will need to replace a few pieces if we can keep the youngsters. Lee Amedee will be hard to replace from a leadership and hitting perspective, he was just a professional player all around. We will miss Jose Torres, just miss him as a personality, I really wish he could have helped more this year, but the fans will miss him. Tyler Papenbrock, really performed well this year once his roll was clearly defined. Andrew Hermrmann, not much more can be said about a guy who gave you 4 complete games, really solid Saturday starter. Riggo, will be missed, but we may have found something in Owen Galt.

So, consider that Torres did not play almost at all this year, Riggo has been out for a while, Amedee, Herrmann and Pap, are the big guys we will need to replace if the core comes back. We have a few holes to fill.

1st base, the good news is that we are seeing for the most part that Donovan Lasalle can handle 1B, but still think we need to find a guy there. 2B, Owen Galt might be the guy, but depth there from a JUCO player could be helpful. Blaze and Drew can hold down the left side of the infield, with Colt Brown behind the plate. Collins, Lewis and Lasalle or someone else in the outfield. We need to solidify the bullpen. There is a question about C-Mo and will/can he come back, you have Roman who has pitched extremely well and does Brasch get drafted, but that could be a pretty solid Friday, Saturday, Sunday combo, not to mention Sawyer Pruitt with a year of experience and an offseason under his belt. Some good pieces in the pen, but we need more depth. I love Pearson, Carter and Smtih. Could be a log jam of starters if C-Mo is healthy and chooses to return, with Pruitt, Brasch, C-Mo, Roman and Tollett. Good problem to have.

Am glad for the Cajuns to make it into the field of 64. They have played some good baseball the last three weeks or so! Yes, when it comes to trashing UL coaches on this site there are numerous "Arm-Chair Quarterbacks" and "Hall of Fame Coaches"!

We fell flat for 15ish games during the middle of the season. If we had sustained the play from early in the season or the end of the year, we might’ve been a host.

Dang… I forgot about Chase Morgan.

If we can get 2024 Chase back, that would be huge.

I don’t see any way Brasch is back. He’ll likely get drafted in the top 4-5 rounds.

Having Morgan back (and fully healthy) and Landon Victorian getting back to where he was pre-injury would be big.

There are some pretty good arms coming in next year as well.

Retaining the freshmen (Brown, Lewis, Rodriguez, Pruitt and Pearson) should be the top priority. Along with Mark Collins, who I think has a chance to be one of the better players in the conference before he’s done, and Parker Smith, who has the potential to be the ace of the staff. I’d like to see Galt, Mandino, and Lim back as well. But at some point, you run out of spots for guys and they may be looking for a more secure full time place.

Obviously you want to keep guys like Markle, LaSalle, and Spalitta. I’d be surprised if any of them were looking to leave though. They’re all guys that came from P4 programs and are starting to thrive here.

Finding a really good (experienced) bat with pop, that can play 1B or OF would be a nice addition. And of course, as many good pitchers as you can get.

The future is really bright if most of that can be accomplished.
