Exactly 11 years to the day, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team saw itself in the same situation and in the same venue.
Needing two wins over Texas State on Saturday at Riddle-Pace Field to reach the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Game for the first time in three years, Louisiana got 6.0 strong innings on the mound from freshman Sawyer Pruitt.
Maddox Mandino and Donovan LaSalle each continued their stellar postseasons with a pair of hits while senior Lee Amedee delivered the big blow for the Ragin' Cajuns with a three-run homer in the ninth inning in a 7-4 win over the Bobcats in an elimination game.

Unbelievable what this team has done over the last month of the season. Unbelievable what this team has done this week. This is one of Matt Deggs' best coaching jobs IMO. Loved to see that Sawyer Pruitt and Ty Roman got a revenge game vs. TXST last night. Not only are we playing for a SBC Championship, we are playing for our 40th win today!
Looks like more rain in the forecast. Buckle up, its going to be a long day.👍 1Comment

I would imagine that a win today would set a Sun Belt tournament conference record for wins. Hard to imagine somebody would have more than 5. Would need to have happened in the play-in era … and require a tournament championship after losing a game.

I think this was TXST’s last Sun Belt contest. Glad it was “Louisiana-Lafayette” that could wish them well as they move on. Now they can underachieve in PAC 12.

Truth be told, I was once a bit partial to TXST. Maybe because they were not much of a threat and every football game we played against them for over a decade was a good day.
They have a nice future of staying up until midnight watching their teams play. Bye, y’all.Comment

Agree!
Now that the Cajuns have taken care of business to secure a bid... I'd rather see Troy get an at-large (over SWTS) and let "Southwest Texas State" sulk in what could have been as they depart the SBC.
Au revoir!!! Enjoy slam marcos.Comment
