What an absolutely incredible job from Parker Smith and Hayden Pearson to slam the door and strand the tying run at 3rd base.

And Mandino coming off the bench replacing the guy who had 4 hits yesterday…and getting 4 hits of his own. Plus a fantastic diving catch in the OF late in the game.

Finally, Colt Brown obviously was hurting. It looked like he may have hyper-extended his knee midway through the game running through the bag at 1st base. What a gutsy performance to not only stay in the game, but to continue to be the player that he is (which is the best on the team).

Tremendous job today for the boys. I’m confident that win gets them into a regional, and I’m super impressed with the resilience and fight they’ve shown over the last 1/3 of the season to get themselves into this position. It would have been real easy to go through the motions after starting the conference season 4-9. Instead, they did the opposite. They got even better than they were when they were ranked in the Top 25 earlier in the year. And I guarantee you no host school wants them in their regional as hot as they are.

Tremendous job! More work to be done. I'm not that confident they are in yet. HUGE game tomorrow vs. Texas State... to get Cajuns to Saturday and a day off.

Just to play devil's Advocate... If the Cajuns lose the next 2 (tomorrow evening vs TSU and then Friday (App or Coastal) & not make Saturday)... RPI would take a hit and TSU would be 4-0 over us. Their RPI is close and they would probably get a bid before the Cajuns.

I think/hope the SBC is guaranteed 3 bids. That would be Coastal, USM, Texas State.

Will the SBC get 4 or even 5 bids to allow Troy and/or UL in? Not sure. Hopefully. Depends on other conferences and stolen bids. South Alabama could help our cause by taking care of Troy tonight. Southern Miss could help our cause by taking care of that side of the bracket.

Beat Texas State tomorrow... then I'll be in your boat saying Cajuns are confidently in. Otherwise, we need Troy to lose out as quickly as possible in order for the Cajuns to snag a potential 4th bid.

              More work to do.

And then there could be a stolen bid by South Al or App. Both Troy and TSU (sweep) have head to head advantage over us with higher conference finish for Troy. Would be nice if South Alabama takes care of Troy tonight... and we NEED to take care of Texas State tomorrow. Win tomorrow means Cajuns get Friday off - make it to Saturday and I think we're in. Anything else over the weekend is lagniappe... No guarantee of an at-large yet for the Cajuns, IMHO.
I think we are in. My personal opinion. RPI is 36 right now.

I said at the end of last season we would be back in the ncaa tournament in 2026. I stand by that.

36 doesn't guarantee it... and 2 more losses would likely push it down into the 40s.

In fact the Cajuns are borderline #2 seed.

You make some good points, and if Texas St is 4-0 against us, that obviously matters. But there are some other things that are in the Cajuns favor. Example, against the other big dogs in the league (USM, Coastal, Troy, and S. Alabama) Texas State went 2-10 against those teams and didn’t win a series against any of them. UL won the series against 3 of the 4 and went 7-5 in those games. Texas State also got swept by ULM and lost a game to a dreadful Ga. Southern team, who UL didn’t have the advantage of playing due to the unbalanced conference schedule. The Cajuns got 4 seed App State instead. And won that series too.

Side note: a close friend of mine, who’s from Lafayette and went to Texas A&M, is a big Cajuns fan outside of when they play the Aggies. He ran into D1 Baseball’s Mark Etheridge yesterday between games in Hoover and asked Etheridge what UL needs to do in Montgomery. Ethridge told him he thinks the Cajuns are in regardless…and that was prior to the game against Marshall. Take that for what it’s worth, I have a hard time believing UL would be in losing that game to Marshall, but winning that one AND beating Coastal again makes it very likely the Cajuns are in.

Starting 16-5 against a good schedule, and more importantly, finishing (at least to this point) 17-6 with 7 of those wins against Top 25 ranked teams, makes for a very solid resume. RPI isn’t everything, but UL is solid there as well. And to be honest, if Texas State beats us tomorrow, they may be in too…depending on what Troy does on the other side. Hell, we may see 5 SBC teams in regionals if things go a certain way. Troy has a better overall resume than Texas State does, and has a series win against them as well. But missing Coastal in the conference schedule and losing a series to Ga. Southern hurts them.

Good points and I hope you are right... As always... we'll be watching "stolen bids" from other leagues... Will see how it pans out.

Personally, I feel a lot better with a win over Texas State and making Saturday.

                    One game at a time!

Clutch! Also nice save by coach pulling those strings after almost blowing it leaving Papenbrock in too long.

Pappenbrock got 3 ground balls after the walk. Baseball is weird, 4 of 5 times he’s out of that jam.

I still Think we need 1 more win to
guarantee a bid. I hope Lewis is OK. If he can play, I think Mandino starts in RF
