I have no clue what the graduation rate is of NCAA DIV 1 athletes pre-NIL and after NIL (and the transfer portal). I only have a suspicion that it has decreased tremendously. I'm not even sure how to research this information. I am including all major college sports when I say NCAA DIV 1 athletes (football, basketball [men's & women's], baseball, softball......)
And if what I suspect is true, that the graduation rate of college athletes has decreased tremendously since the onset of NIL and the transfer portal, then why have these kids even attend college at all. College sports have become semi-pro. And that is not what colleges were created for.
I know I'm in the minority here but if people can't see that this has deteriorated the true meaning of what college was intended for, to get an education to help create a better you, a better society, then God help us all.
I truly hate what has become of college sports. When I want to watch professional sports, I watch the NFL, MLB, NBA, ....., and I used to watch college sports for the pure love and pride of playing for your college. Not anymore, it's who will pay me the most for me to play. How sad.
