Good for Marshall. Hope they will be successful in their pursuit. And it makes sense when you think about it as the AC footprint has been shifting northeasterly the past few years. Last time I checked the State of West Virginia is not in the south. SBC could remain at 12 or backfill with MTSU/WKY combo. Would be status quo for the SBC.Comment

AI Says:
The 2031 Pivot Point: The Next TV Deal
While payouts will steadily climb until 2031 due to contract escalators and CFP money, the true financial leap is expected when the contract expires in mid-2031. [1]
The Sun Belt is widely considered by industry experts to be undercompensated relative to its high TV viewership and recent on-field success. With major programs like James Madison University exiting for the AAC in 2028 to chase immediate revenue, Sun Belt leadership has actively emphasized the need to command a significantly higher market-rate deal. When the Sun Belt hits the open market in 2031, administrators are aiming for a substantial multi-million dollar bump per school to keep pace with the AAC's $7 million annual baseline.
There will be other networks bidding for the SBC you can bet which will bring the market value up!Comment

The structure of these contracts will change by 2031. It won't be only conferences bidding their games. Schools/matchups will be out for bid. Michigan/Ohio State, Texas/Oklahoma, Alabama/Auburn, USC/Notre Dame will be out for bid as standalone games. SunBelt may get close to AAC by that time but will still be light years behind the P4 money until Mickey Mouse goes broke.Comment
