Good showing by some of the freshmen; particularly Puig in the circle. Conde and Spinogatti looked good at the plate as well. Several of the veterans did not play; probably to give the young ones more reps.

I wish UL played a more competitive fall schedule to better prepare them for spring competition.

                  They do play McNeese twice.

If the competition is too good this time of year, you end up trying to fix things that don't need fixing.

If the competition is to tough in the fall, it just makes it look like everything is broken and you can't identify your real weaknesses.

In the fall ball game last night we pitched Emily Adams for at least 6 innings [I left after 6]. Though her velocity was lower than what Puig showed earlier this week, she had excellent control and great movement on her pitches. I think that both she and Puig will be effective pitchers for us.

This year's recruiting class, as a whole, looks pretty good. I would not be shocked to see several immediate starters out of this group. Certainly Puig and Adams will see action in the circle, and Spinogatti will likely be our everyday catcher. I also expect Conde and Rios to see lots of playing time, and Zoe Harrington gives us another true catcher to back up Spinogatti.

Tori Gonzales will see lots of action as a pinch runner if she doesn't earn a starting role, as will Haylie Johnson.
