Just for the pitching discussion, here are the weekend counts:
Brasch - 88 pitches on Thursday (would be two days fewer rest)
Herrmann - 88 on Friday (would be three days fewer, zero chance this happens)
Pruitt - 73 on Friday
Roman - 72 on Sat
Smith - 22 on Thurs, 14 on Sat - 36 total wkd
Pearson - 38 on Thurs, 21 on Sat - 59 total wkd
Papenbrock - 26 on Sat
Carter - 7 on Fri

Going by all this, I lean Papenbrock but it'll be an all hands on deck so maybe you start someone on short rest. And matchup dictates a lot too.

Good post wcd. I was looking forward and not to last week. For Hermannn to go deep in game, it would be hard with only 3 days rest. It makes the choice of pitchers a little tougher and Wednesday game (not overlooking Marshall) comes at noon. Rain could come into play also. One year that had to switch to single elimination for whole tournament because of monsoons. That could be bad or good because we need to play 1 less game to win it all, but 1 less opportunity to add a win to our resume.

I think going to single elim would be better for us tbh. Hotter team with less pitching depth. 5 wins would be a huge lift (because obviously we still want to win the actual tournament too.)

We are getting some early help with some teams on the bubble:

Duke is upsetting NC State in the Top of 5th 6-5, still allot of baseball to be played. NC State has an RPI of 42, but this would probably kick NC State out of contention.

Michigan State is beating Purdue in the Middle of the 3rd 7-0, Purdue is a bubble team with an RPI of 54.

Michigan State is crushing Purdue 8-0 in the 8th with 1 out.

MSU take down Purdue 8-4, really putting a hurt on Purdue's chances, they were already a bubble team, this should move there RPI into the 60's. NC State is down to Duke 15-9 in the top of the 9th; Duke has bases loaded with 1 out. Now the caviat to all of this is that we don't want Duke or MSU to win their conference tournaments and steal a bid.

NC State is getting brutalized 21-9 in the bottom of the 9th. Duke scored 15 runs in the last 3 innings. At one point this was an 8-8 ball game. This is going to really hurt NC State's chances at an at large bid, they should fall to the mid 50's RPI.

More that probably doesn't affect us but a couple of bubble teams that need lots of help losing today. Stanford is beating Cal, Cal has a RPI of 55 and Stanford is 103 and also Illinois is beating Iowa Illinois is 86, Iowa is 62
